For me, it's in a box on the right side once you start a new topic from there. There should be two boxes - one in hte lower right corner showing forum names (Community, Current Events, etc.), and the one right above it should show usernames, like VelociraptorBlade, Robert, podrock, etc. Check off tyours and after you post the thread, it'll appear on your userpage.

One potential abuse I'd like to nip in the bud, however, is the possibility of posting random whatnot to other peoples pages, making false blogs. Or, gods forbid, spam posts to every forum and blog at once.

Just do what I did - go to your dashboard, click "new topic", then check off your username under the list of names, start typing, and viola! Blog!

Yup. Logged on as Rita Book, the test user, set at the same permission level as all y'all, I don't get an opportunity to start a new "topic" on the left side while on Rita's blog page.

You can start your blog by going to your author page--http://habitablezone.net/author/frankc/--and posting something. The system senses that you're on your own author page, and lights up pencil icons and the "start a new topic" link, just for you.

I'm personally not too interesting in blogging myself. I've always preferred the give-and-take of a forum to being able to stand atop my personal soapbox in splendid isolation. But opinion varies considerably, and I remember that Jody and Eri in particular used the blogs in DamnTikiWiki.

Note to self: explore retrieving their blog posts from the DTW data archive.

BTW, nobody's posted more than one post on their blogs, so you're not yet seeing how it lays out multiple posts. Sort of a "newspaper pyramid", which I think is pretty attractive.

I don't get it, doubt I'll use it but hate not getting it.

I see how you read a blog but how do you start one?

It's the "working" interface used mostly by moderators, the pages with a white background.

I use it a lot because it's better organized than the main "black background" page.

It used to be accessible with a tab at the top, but now you have to slide into it via your "profile." I've got it bookmarked now.
