I saw something online a couple years ago but am having a hard time finding it. It was an unmanned skycrane for military supplies. I’ll keep looking.

Probably lowering stuff from helicopters? Just a guess.

However, helicopters have a lot more “hang time” than this rocket-boosted “skycrane” will. There won’t be time for more than one try.

Friendly question, I don’t know the answer. Where has the military used this landing process?

The landing is indeed the hard part. Although the technology has been used by the military for some time, it still seems like a very risky landing.

If Curiosity makes it safe, my bet is Oppy will STILL be running after Curiosity eventually dies.
