I stand corrected. Blow a gasket. But why bother, if the country is already lost?

Check out the graphics in the post above. And it's not like this situation suddenly happened in the past few years, or just on the Democrats' watch.

At what point should I "blow a gasket?"

If I were the governor of a state, I'd be working out mechanisms for weaning my state off of Federal money. Won't be easy for some states - that newly-printed cash has been pretty sweet for state budgets over the past decades.

Cripes, don't blow a gasket.

Fine, you've convinced me, there's no hope. America's done. Last person out, turn off the lights.

"I swear to God this is my last heroin injection."

Do you remember what happened in May? The date the ceiling actually expired? Do you remember the deals? Do you remember the May 31st vote where the Republicans declared that after this there would be no increase without serious deficit reductions?

Two frigging months ago??

The only result of the deal you suggest would be the same damn dance next time. A clean debt increase that will not carry Obama past the election is D.O.A. This isn't about the economy for Obama. It's about 2012. The Democrats, as long as they are in power, will never, ever tolerate a reduction in the size and power of government.

If the election was this November, we might have stood a chance.

The Democrats want to stay the course. The Obama budget demonstrated it in no uncertain terms.
