You must also support them under their butt. Otherwise, you risk strangling them. I've got a 22-lb. cat. I can't even pick the big guy up, let along by the scruff of the neck. But I have a big clip. I'll try it sometime when he's on my lap just to see how well it does. There's nothing cuter than watching Mama cat carry her babies by the scruff of their necks.
