Piece O'Cake. So simple I can do it.

And I agree, it sounds ponderous. The survivors of the crash of the TikiWiki should all have the ability to edit their posts. Especially since it is impossible to include links and images unless you can edit your comments. That's not good.

During the Zone's classic era, there was no editing. Made us less hasty and yes, better writers. I've become quite lazy myself.

HI, Pod.. I suddenly noticed I have the right to edit your posts, so I'm testing it.
ER

That's cool. I usually just add an extra period when testing. (pod)

If you need something major moved or corrected, or a link done, I can help. I'm not going to fix typos. That's just weird.

I think rising worldwide demand for energy is a more important driver right now than scarcity of the resources themselves. Supplies are not meeting demand, so prices go up, but it's more about customers like China and India than dwindling oil and gas fields.

As far as natural gas goes, there are also issues with being allowed to build gas terminals onshore, and gas pipelines.

You are right that the easy stuff is mostly gone. At least in places we're allowed to get it out.

THE RIGHT TO EDIT.

Man, does that sound ponderous, or what? Actually, it's not worth a great big effort, I'm sure you all will forgive the occasional typo, and if I think of something clever after I've submitted, I've no one to blame but myself for being hasty. If an occasional error totally changes what I'm trying to say, then I can always repost, even if it takes the edge off what I'm saying.

So don't bother, mods, unless it's something easily diagnosed and corrected. I need the discipline.

How to handle natural gas from offshore rigs has alway been a huge problem.

Look at a picture of any offshore or remote producing well and you'll see a flame stack somewhere. That flame burns off the light gasses that are in the crude, liberated from solution by the change in pressure. It's not all natural gas, but that's a big part of it.

Why? Because collecting it, compressing it, and shipping it was not worth the price of return. Running pipes to offshore rigs for nat gas is costly. The technology to compress the gas preceeded the creation of ships with huge pressure tanks. The amount of natural gas that has been burned off during the petroleum age has to be staggering.

This ship is a technological marvel that solves many problems. But it also is an indication that what was once cheap is now valuable, and getting more so in the future. The investors must believe that natural gas will be an important (read relatively scarce) resource.

Hydrocarbon extraction is no longer as easy as it once was.

Poor ER. :( If you smile real pretty at Pod and/or Robert, maybe they can give you the right to edit. I personally think all the old (not old in age but old in length of time) members should have that option but that's just my opinion.

Normally, I'd be tempted to just take your word for it, but you seem so breathlessly desperate to bring this kind of news to our attention that I've become quite skeptical about your motives.

You must have an axe to grind--just like those late-night ads for the Ginzu knives, they're just too good to be true, or otherwise, why would they feel the need to run the same commercial over and over again?

I guess you don't understand, you're never skeptical about anyone's motives...

I've been tracking these things, although someone like Podrock probably has his finger closer to the pulse than I do.

You have no idea what the "atlases" of the energy industry have accomplished just in recent years to keep the supplies of oil and gas coming. Reserves right now, due to new technologies, are a lot more impressive than they were just a few years ago.

Oil and gas are global resources. Energy Shell finds will be used by Americans, just as their oil sands projects in Canada will provide oil for us.

You can spend some time here and find out exactly what this one company is doing around the world.

Obama does not make "investments." Obama distributes taxpayer loot to political allies and cronies.
