The human species has been around for 5 million years and every single living species has known a beginning,
Yes...
an evolution
Yes...
and an extinction.
Nope. I'm old, but I ain't dead.
The same will happen to us, but we have no idea how and when.
Hogwash. If we know enough in advance, for the first time in Earth's entire history, we have the ability to prevent what is generally accepted as having killed the dinosaurs from ever happening to us.
Even if the reason for the dino's demise is not a cut 'n dried space object impact, we know how to prevent what we know could be an extinction impact.
Human history is all about how we get dead. Nothing else on the planet but us looks at why we get dead and what to do to not get dead without involving evolution.
The human species has its own culture to rely upon or to confront when an ending will become obvious.
What we need to know as much as anything else is how to live on THIS planet before we can hope to propagate to a different planet. What kills us here, on Earth, doesn't go away because we're not on Earth.
And it's not at all obvious what we do that eventually might kill us all.
Should we not try? Hogwash!
That's what "people" do.
