What matters, it seems, is more when we see it than when it really happened. We represent M31 as we see it now instead of how it will appear at the time the light that leaves it now will appear in almost 3 million years.
Also, we say the sun sets and rises...but does it?

That's "Culture". Still very much anthropocentric, indeed.
