To keep supporitng the plan to return humans to the Moon so that
the US is not left behind by the Europeans and presumably China
(and even India?).

Or will we find ourselves, some 40 years after putting astronauts
on the Moon first, having to ask them for a ride there?

I don't feel confident in any of the candidates being all that
gung-ho about sending people to the Moon, nor do I see a
similar enthusiasm in the general public, who are - certainly not
without merit - more concerned about the economy.

If NASA is not careful, their plans for the Moon might backfire
if the public sees it as a frivolous waste of taxpayer money
that has no direct relation to their lives. And certainly all
the politicians who want to look good in their constituents'
eyes will pounce on that idea like piranhas on a steak.
