numbers don't add up

The author you link to has derived values VERY different from the accepted ones.

He claims a spiral rate of 20m per century (20 cm per year). Raul's link quites 1.8 cm per year.

The Indian author claims a lifetime of 11,000 years. Raul's link (and other sources) suggest 50 MILLION years is closer to the truth.

I don't have enough mathematical ability to check the author's working but Occam's Razor suggests that he is wrong and everyone else is right.

I'm prepared to be convinced otherwise by reasonable arguments, as usual...
