We didn't! We were not here/did not exist when this burst occured. Apparently light from such an energy source has little or no bounds. Are you comparing this to a Big Bang event? The only thing I can think of is that the Big Bang must have been a sight if there was something or someone to have witness it at the time and maybe they have or will in some distant future (lol, yikes!). Thank goodness for microwaves.
