To believe either is a choice of presuppositions about the Cosmos without any hope of being proven true. Sure, a Universe might look flat and Euclidean, but past one's present horizon it might not be so, and it might not be at all. Likewise infinite future hyperbolic geometry is equally unverifiable - only a close topology can ever be pinned down for sure.
