Ok, I got my hands on an old Gateway Solo 2500 gratis*, sans hard drive. I happen to have a 2.5 inch 12 MB drive. Battery is bad, have an AC adapter. It’s a 333 PII with 92 MB’s of RAM. And, that sucker is heavy, all 7+ pounds of it. It took to 98SE like a duck to water, even loading the drivers was easy.

Would it be worthwhile to try loading XP on it?

Or, keep 98SE with a Linux partition? I hate trying to network 98SE with XP, not likely it’ll ever see the WEB. It will be used as a back-up word processor, and keeping record for my job. I have Word Perfect loaded, and an OpenOffice disc.

* the person who let me have it was about to toss it. They were glad to be rid of it.
