My old hp pavilion bit the dust six months ago. I wouldn't turn on.
I got the itch today to do a little programming but VB and SQL Sever were on the hp. I unplugged it and plugged it back in a few times and noticed the green LED indicator on the back of the ps "blipped" but wouldn't stay on, so I figured it was the ps.
My first box (K6-2 450) was still sitting along side my desk, already cannibalized, but it still had its ps. The hp's ps was physically 50% smaller than the one in the old box, so instead of trying to cram 10 lbs. of shit in a 2 lbs. sox, I cable tied it to the back of the case and ran the wires through the hole for the original. It's plenty solid and a ran a ground wire from the ps box to the case.
Hit the button and she whirled to life, chunking away happily.
Having an old computer or two sitting around reminds me of the guy that has two Ford Galaxies, a Duster and a VW Bug sitting in his backyard- all with grass skirts.
Must be time for a Budweiser...
