"...if you ignore the will expressed by the caucus states, many of which do not even record a popular vote."
Right. Exactly. You can only conclude Clinton has won the popular vote if you count the popular vote. Which is precisely my claim and precisely what you grant: Clinton has won the popular vote.
In other words- I don't think firing back with "You can only claim she won the popular vote if you don't count the things that are not the popular vote" Is a very good retort.
If you want to argue that Obama is supported by the 'will of the people' (as judged by some composition of caucus, poll, and weighted popular vote) and not Hillary, then maybe we could have that discussion. But thats extremely arguable, and getting more so every day as national polls swing in the direction of Hillary.
And its also not what matters. We have a convention for a reason. Lets sit tight and see what happens. I think this is the best thing that has happened to the democratic party in years- the only possible problem is if we go 'republican' and decide to self destruct as a party because some of us don't end up getting our way. I'll support Hil or Obama, though I'll do so grudgingly and with deep reservation if its Obama.
Best thing: A deal is struck to put them on the same ticket.
And I hate to say it, but don't you go Bros*ian on me. I said nothing about Florida at any point. You want to discuss that, raise it with me as a properly different topic.
