I meant.

You and the other Obama fans are so starry-eyed at this point that you probably haven't given a lot of thought to what the actual results of his advertised policies in Iraq and elsewhere would be.

From his website (various documents under "foreign policy" and "Iraq"):

Obama will immediately begin to remove our troops from Iraq. He will remove one to two combat brigades each month, and have all of our combat brigades out of Iraq within 16 months. Obama will make it clear that we will not build any permanent bases in Iraq. He will keep some troops in Iraq to protect our embassy and diplomats; if al Qaeda attempts to build a base within Iraq, he will keep troops in Iraq or elsewhere in the region to carry out targeted strikes on al Qaeda.

Translation: Bail out. Come back for high-altitude bombing runs and Fallujah-style attacks when al Qaeda, the insurgents, and the militias start eating the cities again. If Obama knew jack shit about this issue, he would realize that this latter tactic is pretty much what we were doing for almost three years before we started a true counterinsurgency.

Obama will launch the most aggressive diplomatic effort in recent American history to reach a new compact on the stability of Iraq and the Middle East. This effort will include all of Iraq’s neighbors — including Iran and Syria. This compact will aim to secure Iraq’s borders; keep neighboring countries from meddling inside Iraq; isolate al Qaeda; support reconciliation among Iraq’s sectarian groups; and provide financial support for Iraq’s reconstruction.

Translation: Obama will try to create a peaceful and stable Iraq by making a "deal" with those two countries currently busting their asses to keep Iraq from being peaceful and stable. He'll no doubt sign agreements where Iran promises not to smuggle weapons or train and finance terrorists. I expect the agreements will be on nice parchment, probably with those little fancy gold seals and all. If Obama becomes president, look for lots of news footage of him coming out of airplanes happily waving papers over his head. Naturally, Iran will do whatever Obama wants, having already shown us with its nuclear cooperation how much it cares about the opinions and stern disapproval of the U.S., Europe, and the U.N.

Israel just blew up a nuclear bomb factory in Syria. Just saying.

Afghanistan: Barack Obama believes that we need to begin to end the war in order to finish the fight in Afghanistan. He would redeploy at least two combat brigades (7,000 personnel) of rested, trained American troops to Afghanistan to reinforce our counter-terrorism operations and support NATO’s efforts to fight the Taliban.

So 30,000 additional troops can't possibly work in Iraq, but another 7,000 troops in Afghanistan will win that war. How? Reply hazy. Ask again later.

And Iran?

Diplomacy: Obama is the only major candidate who supports tough, direct presidential diplomacy with Iran without preconditions. Now is the time to pressure Iran directly to change their troubling behavior. Obama would offer the Iranian regime a choice. If Iran abandons its nuclear program and support for terrorism, we will offer incentives like membership in the World Trade Organization, economic investments, and a move toward normal diplomatic relations. If Iran continues its troubling behavior, we will step up our economic pressure and political isolation. Seeking this kind of comprehensive settlement with Iran is our best way to make progress.

"Economic pressure and political isolation?" Has ANYONE been following the progress of the "carrot and stick" approach so far with Iran? At least there will be a small change of routine as this will give Iran someone else's head to piss on besides the U.N.'s

Obama is the current God of the Airheads. He appeals to the same kind of people who were nuts in the past about George McGovern, Eugene McCarthy, and Ralph Nader.

As Wretchard says:

Barack Obama has demonstrated that "reasons" to vote against him are not enough. They count, but they count less than they rationally should. He's riding an emotional tide in a weather system where logic is the smallest of zephyrs. Obama is the candidate of feeling. The expression of a mood. What he is in and of himself has proved less important than his symbolism.
