We went to court Thursday and her tune had changed. She had lied to the officer the night she got the ticket. Now it was "I was sick, took medication, went to sleep and didn't hear the dog. The officer didn't give me a warning or anything!" That night it had been, "Well, I leave the dog out all night all the time and she's never complained before."

Anyway, the judge asked if there had been repeat episodes since and I said, "No." She got off with court costs and no fine but he looked at her and told her in no uncertain terms, "Don't let it happen again!" She knows from how he said it, next time there'll be a hefty fine.

All has been calm. The dog comes out to pee or poop, barks a few times and goes back indoors.
