I had the surgery. My colon is put back together. No more colostomy. No more cancer. Before the surgery, they did a colonoscopy and found nothing. Not only am I cancer free, I have no pre-cancerous polyps.

I have a new appreciation for the digestive system. It’s something we seem to take for granted until it stops working.

Except for yearly checkups, and some healing, this ordeal is over. Looking back, I am very thankful it turned out the way it did. It could have been much worse.

Remember 2 years ago when I turned 40 and I was complaining about being tired and having no energy? I don’t feel like that anymore. That cancer was dragging me down. Now that it’s gone, I feel years younger. I am stronger. I have more energy than I have had in 2 or 3 years ago.

I think this experience has changed me. I have been given a second chance at life, and I plan on not squandering that chance.
