I am one of the old timers here. I started posting on the old MSNBC Space Board back in 1999. When that Board shut down, I moved over here. Although I am a native Texan of Southern heritage, my handle is my initials, it is not a reference to Johnny-Reb. I have quite a mixture in my blood- German, Italian, Irish and Native American (in that order.)

I love Astronomy, Geology and Meteorology. I am Conservative on most issues. I am Liberal on issues dealing with animal rights, environment, race and human rights. I try to stay in the middle of the political spectrum. I am a Christian who believes in Evolution and the Big Bang theory.

Like my hero, Carl Sagan, I am a Pacifist at heart. I dream of a world where all countries work together to terraform Mars and Venus, explore and settle the Solar System and then head for the stars. Imagine what the human race could do if we took all of the resources we put into war and used it for space exploration and settlement.

Professionally, I taught Astronomy labs in College, worked as a professional photographer after college, then became a public school science teacher. After five years of that, I joined the computer field. Today I am a programmer and DBA.

I love to write fiction, paint, hike, snow ski, surf, sail and many other things. I love all kinds of music, except rap. My main passion, however, is my wife and two children.
