I've had the usual complex history - my training is in geology and
geophysics, in the international oil industry on Earth. My "job" is to
make sure that there will always be 98 octane to pump into your SUV, or
run the generator of a field hospital, so long as we need it as a
society.
I find the stuff, you use it.
When you're done with using it, I have poems and novels to write,
pictures to paint, and interesting science to do...
As a diversion, to keep my sanity, I got interested in Mars a few years
back. I've been telling everyone that Mars is a strange place and that
we don't instinctively know how it works. We understand Earth, the
water planet, but Mars is a low-pressure arid frozen wasteland - to
first approximation. However, it can get quite interesting - see my
website: www.whitemars.com
As for me, and mine, I find myself in a very strange and unanticipated
situation. I married the love of my life and we had a bunch of kids,
and were working towards training them up and pushing them out of the
nest, then settling down to an exciting future with the world to visit
and enjoy. But life is never smooth and my very much better half died
suddenly and unexpectedly.
