The Iraqi government is making major strides in establishing its authority over the country. The Iraqi security forces are taking the lead in the fighting and are making massive gains in both the quality and quantity of their personnel. Our ground forces can now begin to be drawn down, but it's still going to take several years for us to be completely out of Iraq. They still need us for air support, artillery support, and logistics and training. This will require fewer and fewer personnel as the months and years go by.
