This is a common feature of internet discussion groups. Somehow the Moderators are supposed to be angels:- never get involved, never get angry, never take sides. But how will one *Understand* a topic well enough to make sensible decisions if you don't actively participate?

Frankly, the scenario of the hands-off Moderator is an appeal to a god.
